Quick baby gift

Kipp and Andrew came home for the weekend (Easter baskets anyone?).  Kipp needed a quick gift for a baby shower... mom to the rescue.  We cut a leaf pattern out of contact paper and adhered it to my silk screen.  2 minutes later she had custom made onesies and bibs.  Too cute!

Leaf print pin cushions

I've seen these leaf prints on some of my favorite craft blogs lately and thought I'd give it a try.  Super easy and fun...but sort of messy.  Not sure I'm doing right, but the results are cool.  Most of the projects I've seen are sachets...but I needed a new pin cushion so that's what I made.

Brother t-shirts

Christian ( bleached Hawaiian shirt ) had a baby brother 2 days ago and his cousin Abigail will have a new baby brother soon...so I printed fun t-shirts for them today.

Master Bedroom Pillows

Well... I'm finally getting around to "decorating" the master bedroom of the Hawaii House. I've been concentrating on the other rooms, but think it's time to add a little something to our room. Starting with pillows (surprise!!!!) I think I've made 25 (or so) pillows for the house (drives Chris nuts) but I like them. They're easy and make a quick impression. I stuck with white (think the architecture of the house does most of the decorating) but think they're pretty cute. I used freezer paper once again for the stencils...just print out the words you want to use on the computer, place your piece of freezer paper over the text and cut out with an xacto knife.  Remember to keep the centers of letters like a,e,d,b etc...you'll need to iron them onto your fabric as well.  Place the freezer paper on your fabric shiny side down and iron.  Use a foam brush or stencil brush and gently fill in the cut out letters.  You may have to go over it a second or third time after drying to get an opaque image.  Remove the freezer paper once dry and sew the pillow.  Stuff with a pillow form and you're finished.

Bleached Hawaiian Shirt

I need to take a present to Christian tomorrow that he'll think is cool. I'm baking cupcakes and frosting them with green icing...but thought he should have a cool new "Hawaiian" shirt too. I've seen a few people in blogland doing the bleach on dark cotton t-shirts...a project I tried a loooong time ago and thought it would be a fun way to make a little boy's t-shirt cool. I started with a black t-shirt (100% cotton) from Target ($5.00), a bottle of bleach and some freezer paper. I cut out stencils of hibiscus flowers and ironed them to the t-shirt. I then mixed a very strong solution of bleach and water...5 parts bleach to 1 part water and carefully dabbed it on with a foam brush. It only took about 2 minutes for the black of the t-shirt to start turning a very pretty rust. When I was satisfied with the color of the bleached sections, I washed the t-shirt to remove the bleach and stop the process. I think it looks neat, we'll see what Christian thinks tomorrow!
