Pueo...the Hawaiian Owl

 Two types of owls here in Hawaii.  The smaller brown Pueo and the larger whiteish barn owl (which isn't native) but was introduced in 1958 to cut down on the rodent population. We definitely see more of the barn owls here.

 Been working on a commission for a while.  This one is big for me 16x40.  Think I'm close.

Hydrangea in black

 Back to these fun flowers...but thought I'd try the black background.  I like the contrast.

A little practice today...lots of colors in black and white

 The black background was actually alizarin crimson, ultramarine blue and burnt sienna. The cup has ultramarine blue, raw sienna, rose madder as well as Titanium white and black.  Who knew?

 I've had trouble with these in the past...going to continue to try them until I'm happy with the result.  I have so many trees in the yard I could open lei stand!!!

 Teddy is a puppy and hasn't quite grown into his ears!  He also has LOTS of hair!

 Worked on a commission this week.  I used to paint lots of pet portraits in watercolor...this is the first time I've tried it in oils.  Think it turned out pretty well.
