Blue Plaid Purse

I've been so busy helping Ryan with his remodel project...I haven't had much time for projects of my own. I did manage an hour or so the other day and made this purse from leftover fabric see here from the grandkids room in Hawaii.  Thought it needed polka dot fabric for the lining though.

And look what I dragged out of the closet!!!  My old friend the serger.  I bought this in 1988...see how the plastic has yellowed?  But it still runs perfectly.  I'm having some trouble getting the tension right... think maybe it deserves a tune-up.
I'm excited to start serging again...it will save tons of time on some of these sewing projects!

I'm Baaaack!

I've been away from blogging for awhile...time to catch my breath and get back to it.  We left Hawaii on Sunday, June 6th and flew to Italy June 8th for a family bike trip.  3 days in Rome to get over jet lag...then 5 days of biking in Piemonte.  VERY fun...our old stomping grounds.  We lived in Torino in 1977-78...it was super fun to see what the city has become post Olympics.  I was very PROUD of the Torinese...they've turned that city around.  It's clean, and charming and beautiful...not the dirty industrial city we lived in.  It was fun to speak Italian again, visit our old "house", the shops and restaurants we used to frequent, and especially to see old friends.  It was also special to introduce our children to our adopted city!

A little confusion on where to find lunch

And...the new fixer-upper project that will be keeping
Ryan busy for the next few months. (and his mom too)

The demolition team!

I made a new purse in a few spare moments...I'll share that tomorrow

One Last Project

before I leave Hawaii.  I made a few improvements to the quilted bag...narrower straps, broader base...left the pocket off the end this time.  This design is a work in progress...think I'll make one in ticking or seersucker when I get back to Dana Point.

Oh...and Ryan was 60th out of 1400 triathletes this morning
Eighth in his age group.  Yeah Ryan!
